5 Plant Foods That Contain Fat




In addition to nuts that are known to contain fat, there are also some fruits and vegetables that contain fat. They are the following:

Coconut 33 grams fat / 100 grams

Chia seeds 27 – 31 grams fat / 100 grams (2 tbsp – 24 grams chia seeds contain 6.5 – 7.5 grams fat)

Avocado 14.6 – 15.4 grams fat / 100 grams

Soybeans raw 15.3 grams fat / 100 grams (9 gram fat/100 gram cooked soybeans)

Corn 1.5 grams fat / 100 grams


In the vegetable fat of these foods, the fatty acids are mainly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated, that is, healthy fatty acids.
Soybean also has significant amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, as well as omega-6 linoleic acid, two important fatty acids whose presence in the body is always related to good health.
Coconut has 92% saturated fat and that can raises cholesterol levels similar to animal fats, but it contains a unique type of medium chain saturated fat called lauric acid that raises HDL or “good” cholesterol levels. If we do not consume it frequently and in large quantities, there will not be an increase in cholesterol levels in the body.
Chia seeds contain α-linolenic–rich that may be an alternative to ω-3 sources foods.
