If vomiting is severe and lasts more than 24-48 hours, you should be examined by a doctor to find the cause of your symptoms.

Nutritionally, we can reduce the symptoms of nausea and vomiting if we follow the following advice:

1. Eat small and frequent meals (6-8 per day) instead of large ones that can cause stomach distension.

2. Eat our small meals slowly so as not to fill the stomach quickly.

3. Eat foods at room temperature, not hot and not cold.

4. Eat toast (not whole grain) or crackers, for breakfast but also during the day.

5. Avoid spices, spicy foods, vegetables, very fatty foods, fried foods, very sweet foods.

6. We do not consume alcohol.

7. We do not consume: coffee and anything containing caffeine, fruit juices, dried fruits, soft drinks, sports drinks, citrus fruits, milk and dairy products.

8. We consume : rice soup with chicken broth or boiled potatoes without the skin or white rice or white bread, white toast, banana and if tolerated a little piece of boiled carrot. At the next meal we can also consume boiled chicken with the rice soup.

9. We consume water at least 30-60 minutes before or after meals with small sips or with a straw.

10. Smelling the lemon peel or dripping a few drops of lemon into the water reduces the symptoms of nausea.

Also, do not lie down for 30-60 minutes after meals. If we must lie down, keep our head at a height of 30 centimeters above our feet and avoid intense physical activity after meals.
