10 Foods to Avoid for Better Body Odor

Body odor comes from a mixture of sweat and bacteria on our skin and is influenced by our hormones, possible medications we take, medical conditions, our diet, and our genes.

Hot weather, menopause, pregnancy, obesity, stress, and exercise can also affect body odor.

Medical conditions that are associated with changes in our body odor include diabetes, hyperthyroidism, liver disease, kidney disease, and infectious diseases.

Foods that contain sulfur can increase our body odor. The most common foods that contain sulfur are the following:

1. Onion

2. Garlic

3. Cabbage

4. Broccoli

5. Cauliflower

6. Asparagus

7. Beans

8. Red meat

9. Dairy products

10. Egg yolk

Certain foods cause sweating, which indirectly increases body odor. These are foods that contain:

Caffeine

Monosodium glutamate or MSG, a flavor enhancer found in almost all prepared foods (soups, sauces, canned foods, frozen foods, fast food)

Spices (curry, cumin, ginger)

Alcohol

It is normal to have a natural body odor and is not necessarily related to how much we sweat. The careful consumption of the above foods will help to reduce body odor, especially in the summer months when intense heat also causes intense sweating.

The consumption of foods such as green vegetables, green tea, orange, various herbs to stop body odor is not scientifically documented. It is better to increase our personal hygiene, always stay hydrated, and limit our intake of the foods we mentioned above and we will definitely have a positive result.
