8 Fruits that contain Protein

Protein is known to be essential for building muscle mass and contributes, among other things, to the reconstruction of cells and the synthesis of enzymes and hormones.

When we say that a food contains protein, we mean a sufficient amount of protein, so that a small portion of this food can cover the protein that our specific meal should have. Such a food is beef (which only 100 grams, have 26.3 grams of protein), shrimp (which only 100 grams have 27.6 grams of protein), cottage cheese (which 100 grams have from 11.1 to 12.5 grams of protein).

Protein is also found in pasta (from 2 – 4 grams / 100 grams), in boiled or baked potatoes (1.9 grams of protein / 100 grams), even in lettuce (it has 0.9 grams of protein / 100 grams) and in many other foods. Foods with such a small amount of protein can supplement the proteins of a meal, but we DO NOT count them as protein foods.

Most fruits contain between 0.3-1.5 grams of protein/100 grams.

8 fruits (dried and fresh) that contain more than 2 grams of protein/100 grams of fruit are as follows:

1. Goji berry, contains 13-14 grams of protein

2. Dried Apricot, contains 3.4 grams of protein

3. Dried figs, contains 3.3 grams of protein

4. Raisins, contains 3.1 grams of protein

5. Guava, contains 2.6 grams of protein

6. Dates, contains 2.5 grams of protein

7. Passion fruit, contains 2.2 grams of protein

8. Avocado, contains 2.0 grams of protein

We do not consume fruits for their protein, but for the vitamins, antioxidants and simple natural carbohydrates they contain, as well as for their moisture, helping to implement a balanced diet and hydrate our body.

Supplementing our daily diet with some of the highest protein fruits we mentioned will help us get…a little more protein.

Vegetarians could include these protein fruits more often in their daily diet, because vegetarian diets, and especially vegan diets, can be lacking in protein if they are not carefully planned.
