5 Myths about Diet Programs

1. Delete Carbohydrates from diet if you want to lose weight

If we exclude carbohydrates from our diet we will have a slightly greater weight loss than usual, but this weight loss will be due to excessive water loss from the body and not to fat loss (1 gram of carbohydrate holds 3 to 4 grams of fluid in the body).

Carbohydrates have components such as vitamins, minerals and fiber and are the best manageable source of energy for our body and therefore should not be missing from diet programs.

2. Full-fat foods will make me gain weight

Fat is needed to protect our organs, maintain cell membranes, promote growth, and absorb essential vitamins. Unsaturated fats, such as olive oil, nut fat, and avocado fat, are essential for the proper functioning of the heart and the entire body. With careful intake of full-fat foods, not only will we not see any weight gain, but we will also lose weight more healthily.

3. Foods like grapefruit, cayenne pepper, and vinegar can burn fat

The studies that have shown a minimal increase in our metabolism by consuming these types of foods have all been conducted under very low-calorie diet conditions with questionable results in real-life conditions. We don’t need to eat pepper everywhere to increase our metabolism, as long as we do some form of exercise with much better results on it. No single food burns fat in our body. Diets that focus on single foods are restrictive and lack nutrients that the body needs.

4. Detox diets remove toxins from the body

As long as our body is healthy and eats mainly healthy foods, it can remove waste products and toxins on its own.

Avoiding excessive coffee, sugar, and alcohol intake will help, but antioxidant diets that only contain fruits and certain vegetables are deficient in ingredients and their long-term use will create more problems than good health results.

5. Caffeine is a bad habit in diet

Caffeine will help a healthy body respond better to dieting conditions because it is ergogenic for cognitive function, including attention and alertness, and can also improve cognitive and physical performance even under conditions of sleep deprivation.

Excessive caffeine will not help (like any excess), as will consuming coffees with sweetened creams and syrups or whipped cream if it is in high frequency.
