Weight loss requires effort.
We must reduce the calories we consume in our diet in order to be able to lose weight, whether or not we exercise, and this is a form of deprivation.
Those who say that low-calorie diets for weight loss are not deprivation should probably think again. If, for example, out of the 2200 calories that someone should consume per day, they now have to consume 1400 to lose weight, then they are missing 800 calories per day and will certainly no longer be as full as they were with 2200 calories.
The 10 tips that follow are simple advice for easier weight loss.
1. We eat more animal protein because it slows down digestion and helps us feel fuller longer.
2. We eat more vegetables because they are nutritious, have a lot of fiber, have few calories and they make us feel fuller, helping us feel fuller.
3. We only eat fruit between the “main” meals (the “main” meals are lunch and dinner) because in addition to being nutritious, they help us keep our body’s blood sugar stable as much as possible, so we are not so hungry when it is time to eat our “main” meal.
4. We only use olive oil in cooking and half the amount we used to. We do not add butter or lard as they are high in calories and do not have good fatty acids.
5. We do not use high-calorie salad dressings such as ketchup, bbq sauce, mayonnaise because they are high in calories. We can use light mayonnaise or mustard with caution to add flavor to our salads that have fewer calories.
6. We use a smaller plate to put our portion. This way the plate will look full while it will contain less than what we ate before starting the diet.
7. We do not eat chips, cookies, chocolate from the package. If we have to eat such foods, we take a small amount out of the package, close and store the package with the rest, and eat only the amount we removed.
8. We drink our coffee plain or if we cannot, we add a low-calorie sweetener. Coffees that contain milk and cream have a lot of calories.
9. We limit alcohol to 1 glass, 3 times a week. Alcohol contains a lot of calories and does not help at all if we are on a weight loss diet, especially if we are over 40 years old.
10. We don’t drink soft drinks because they have a lot of calories and are all made of sugar which does not help with weight loss. If we drink light we can drink up to 1 glass a day and no more.
