Calorie Restricted Diet for Cancer Prevention ? Get serious !

The types of cancer that occur in older adults and not only adults determine morbidity and mortality and contribute to cancer care strategies.

Restrictive diets with a reduction in daily caloric intake by 30-40% are generally not recommended for older adults with cancer.

The beneficial effect of such a diet with reduced calories by 30-40% in cancer prevention due to its epigenetic mechanism of action (reduction of blood glucose, reduction of insulin, insulin-like growth factor, growth and other hormones) conflicts with the reality and nutritional value of such a low-calorie diet for our entire lives simply to prevent cancer.

Long-term low-calorie diets are deficient in nutrients and are NOT recommended for any reason.

Let’s say we need to consume 2200 calories per day to maintain our weight and perform our daily activities.

A 30-40% reduction in these calories is a reduction of 660-880 calories per day!!! That is, instead of consuming 2200 calories, we will consume 1320-1540 calories per day to have some form of cancer prevention. And of course this will happen forever…

That is, we will permanently be on a diet, resulting in weight loss, excessive emaciation, destruction of muscle mass, lack of many nutrients, weakness, deterioration of the body, and the creation of diseases.

Nutrition is the key element during cancer treatment that can be perceived by a patient as a fully controlled means of maintaining energy, activity, and the successful outcome of drug or other treatment.

Calorie restriction, which is considered a direct way to increase lifespan, should not be generally recommended for older adults undergoing cancer treatment, as such patient groups experience anorexia and cachexia associated with age and cancer.

Calorie restriction should not be recommended for any adult undergoing cancer treatment, nor should it be recommended for any healthy person who is not overweight.

A balanced diet with the appropriate amount of calories, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, polyphenols is the best answer to any form of disease or to prevent disease.

If combined with some form of regular exercise, it is certain that we have taken a big and steady step towards a better and healthier life.
