Dry and dehydrated skin are two different conditions.
In dehydrated skin, the skin lacks moisture and water.
In dry skin, you are deficient in vitamin A and natural oils.
Dehydrated skin lacks hydration and may look oily but is mostly dull and may peel in places.
If our skin is dehydrated, we must hydrate it and keep it hydrated with plenty of water and/or natural fruit juices. Drinking more than 2 liters of water a day will undoubtedly help.
If our skin is dry, then consuming the following foods will help us:
1. Olive oil
Olive oil contains squalene and vitamin E.
Squalene helps retain skin moisture, and vitamin E increases the skin’s ability to absorb and retain water.
2. Avocado
Avocado contains oleic acid that helps the skin retain moisture.
3. Salmon
The fatty acids in salmon reduce possible inflammation in the skin from ultraviolet radiation and help reduce dryness.
4. Beef liver
Beef liver, due to the large amount of vitamin A it contains, helps in the production of sebum, which is the substance produced by the sebaceous glands and is essential for moisturizing and protecting the skin.
5. Watermelon
The vitamin A contained in watermelon helps in the production of sebum, like the beef liver we mentioned above. It also helps to hydrate the skin due to its high water content.
If we have dry or dehydrated skin we should also limit our intake of foods and drinks that can dehydrate us such as excessive caffeine and excessive alcohol.
